CANCER JOURNEY

An Unexpected Battle: A Journey To Freedom from Cancer

In 2014 the Lord took me on a journey I was not expecting. Life has various turns of events we cannot expect, and I was not expecting to get diagnosed with HER2 cancer. I was on vacation in Europe at the time and I experienced shock upon hearing the news. My life was never the same.

The diagnosis was aggressive and the treatment could not wait. By God’s blessing a door opened to help me move to the top of the waitlist for an emergency cancer surgery across the country. If not for this breakthrough it would have taken two years for me to have the required surgery. I thought that doing two surgeries at once would be better than both separately, but I did not understand how brutal the experience would be. It was a dog fight. I knew that this was the greatest adversity of my life. I began a very difficult regiment of 16 months of chemotherapy treatments.

My questioning drew me to my knees praying to God asking, “Why God? Why?” I found a small book of healing prayers. Each page carried a different prayer that was simple as can be. It carried a bible verse and a few words of declaration. Simply put, I began praying “by your stripes I am healed” from Isaiah 53:5. I took God at his word – that his promises are true.

This desolate desert led to my questioning. The intensity of suffering made me weary and I knew I had to fight to stay encouraged. The harder the devil fought me, the closer I drew to God and the harder I pleaded with God. I told Jesus that I was going to receive his healing, whether that be by divine healing, natural healing through doctors, or dying and going home to be with Jesus in heaven. No matter what, I was going to receive the promises that God laid before me in scripture.

The wilderness season was a battle of endurance. I told God that if he allowed me to stay and continue to live then I would like him to use me for his glory. I desired for him to give me purpose. I wanted a word from scripture that drew me close and would remind me of God’s goodness. I asked for a word to guide me on this journey and the word he gave me was flourish. I was puzzled as to why God chose this word when it certainly would not be represented in scripture. Little did I know that the word flourish is mentioned 23 times in the Bible and the word flourishing is additionally mentioned five more times.

God began to speak to me about how he desired me to encourage women and help them Flourish in Life, and this is the core of my mission and the call on my life: to replenish, rejuvenate, and revive women so they can Flourish in Life. I am passionate about speaking to women of all walks of life and ages. I want to uplift you to blossom and bloom because you are beautiful and the world deserves to see your petals glow and flourish on full display for all to see.

My husband made these pink bands for me and mailed them out all over the US to remind people to pray. I had people on basketball teams, football teams, on the east coast and west coast praying. People that did not know me where praying for me. My husband recently went to our mechanic and his little son was still wearing it. It was amazing!  He said, “he does not take it off.”

TEAM GOD TEAM GREENE

23Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.
